notes from fiveohtwo:

This album was put together in a shorter form with only 9 tracks back in January, and it was gonna come out on this one label, but I had a mental moment and revoked it, and also changed my name like twenty times or something in between then and now. I recorded these tunes over the years, most of them are improvised or made in audacity with two being made in renoise (bonobo and smile). I actually do really like these batch of tunes, I feel maybe I made it a bit too long and maybe there's too many songs that are only one minute, but I gave it a listen the other day and it generally meshes well, though that is partially because I made it a seamless record, most of the songs slightly bleed into the next. All in all i'm pretty proud of this record, I think it's pretty consistent in quality and could probably stand a couple repeat listens. The cover art is really funny to me because of how painfully generic it is, I actually threw it together in MS Paint and just used Helvetica I'm pretty sure. And yet, in a way, there's an aesthetic appeal to it. I just saw the updated GT homepage and apparently Genetic Trance is dead now? Damn. I liked this label. Oh well, i mean 15 years is really good in netlabel terms.
